Professional Development

Continued Professional Development (CPD)

• It is an essential part of career development and knowledge building.
• To find the right professional knowledge and get it accredited, one has to start recording their CPD hours.
• To certify this knowledge enhancement, it is necessary to formalize these learning hours as well, that is why it is necessary to record your CPD hours from an authentic accrediting body.
• CPD hours are a proof of the time invested towards knowledge enhancement and professional refinement and training.

Understanding CPD Hours

  • CPD points can be referred to as units or credit. Either terminology means the same thing.
  • One CPD point is equivalent to one hour of active learning. One hour spent on a CPD activity is credited as one point. It can be explained through the example that you are attending a day-long workshop on psychological first aid, the session’s runtime is from 9 am to 3 pm, with an additional hour for lunch break. The workshop would award 8 CPD points.
  • Once a CPD training has been completed, the person shall receive a certificate, for record keeping purposes. This certificate may or may not have CPD hours mentioned on it whoever it would be present on the course outline and calculations of CPD hours could be done through that or could be inquired through the accrediting source.

When do CPD hours get recorded?
